Environmental Awareness and Climate Change
Project successfully launched

On a crisp Thursday morning in the capital city, representatives from a diversity of organisations joined the Hanns Seidel Foundation and Desert Research Foundation of Namibia to launch a new Environmental Awareness and Climate Change project.

Representatives from public offices, schools, student organisations, civil society, private sector, research institutions and the media all joined the Hanns Seidel Foundation Namibia Office and implementing partner the Desert Research Foundation of Namibia on April 30, 2015 at the Project Launch. The meeting took place at Nampower Convention Centre in Windhoek and comprised an exciting programme including:

  • showcasing DRFN’s climate change and sustainable environmental management initiatives in Namibia (Ms. Rennie Munyayi, DRFN)

  • overview of environmental education and awareness in Namibia (Ms. Monika Shikongo, Ministry of Environment and Tourism)

  • introduction to the Project objectives, activities and target groups (Ms. Lesley-Anne van Wyk, HSF)

Participants and the Namibian public are invited to participate in further consultative workshops to provide insights, ideas and inputs to the project and the national information campaign that will be designed and implemented over the coming three years.
