On Wednesday, 17 October 2018, the National Youth Council together with the Hanns Seidel Foundation, the European Union, AIESEC Namibia and Embassy of the Federal Republik of Germany, the Ministry of Sport, Youth & National Service, as well as the Internet Society Namibia Chapter, envisages hosting a two-day conference in Ongwediva under the theme Youth for Global Goals (Y4GG).

The aim of the conference is to develop actionable steps addressing the most challenging socio-economic challenges facing the Namibian youth, through dialogue with representatives from the public sector, private sector and civil society.

This is the second event of its kind following the success of last year’s conference which was well attended by youth from all walks of life, including representation from 11 of Namibia’s 14 regions, government, media, civil society and the private sector. Our current Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah delivering the keynote speech was a testament to the importance of such an initiative.

Under the theme, ‘Youth 4 Global Goals', we aim to introduce the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to approximately 100-200 youth in the north of the country. The conference will seek to engage the youth and stakeholders in identifying a collaborative project that addresses the needs of the youth and assist Namibia in achieving the high standards set out by the SDGs.

The second day of the conference, Thursday 18th October 2018, seeks to bring together companies/ entrepreneurs from the public and private sector to showcase their businesses and funding/ mentorship opportunities to further engage and build networks with the Namibian youth.
