Internship at the Hanns Seidel Foundation in Namibia

The Hanns Seidel Foundation runs around 100 projects in 65 countries worldwide and has liaison offices in Washington, Brussels, and Moscow. HSF describes its work and mission with the motto "in service of democracy, peace and development". The focus of these projects is on strengthening civil society, civic involvement and promoting the rule of law, education and management training, raising environmental awareness and advising decision-makers in politics, business and administration. 

An internship at the HSF Namibia office is a unique opportunity to experience the working environment of a political foundation hands-on and a  great opportunity for your professional development.  

 

Responsibilities

 

As part of our team, you will assistour project staff in the following areas:

·      Planning, coordinating and implementing high profile dialogues, conferences, and other event types

·      Planning, coordinating and conducting of training interventions including workshops and seminars

·      Liaising with project partners and stakeholders 

·      Contributing to analytical and strategic work

·      Assisting in public affairs (e.g. providing updates for HSF Namibia’s website) 

·      Contributing to editorial and social media activities 

·      Media Monitoring

·      Report writing, assisting in Monitoring & Evaluation 

·      Administrative activities

·      Other project-related activities   

 

Requirements

 

To qualify for an internship at HSF Namibia the following requirements must be met:

·      Minimum: advanced in undergraduate studies;  undergraduate degree or higher qualification will be an advantage

·      Candidates from any discipline are welcome but should have a keen interest in, inter alia, political affairs, international relations, media and communications, economics, business, law, sustainability and/ or environmental aspects 

·      Genuine interest in socio-economic and political issues in Namibia 

·      High organisational and analytical skills

·      Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to effectively interact in an multicultural and dynamic environment

·      Good electronic data processing skills (e.g. MS Office) 

·      Interest in working with various web-based applications and databases

·      Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; German and/ or other Namibian languages

·      Driving license (Code B) will be a strong advantage

 

Duration:

3-12 months

Allowance:

A moderate allowance as financial assistance

Leave:

Two days of leave each month
