With the thought-provoking theme “Where is the love?” Conscious Citizens hosted a panel discussion on gender-based violence on the 14th of April 2015 at the Polytechnic Hotel School in Windhoek.
Seno Namwandi facilitated an active and engaging discussion between a young audience and selected panelists. The panelists were:
Anna Beukers (Namibia Correctional Services)
Adeleide Awases (Ministry of Education)
Carven Izaks (Fatherhood Foundation)
Eino Mbango (Survivor)
Uakotora Riruako (Student Leader)
Conscious Citizens took place as a collaborative effort together with Regain-Trust, an NGO working with survivors of abuse and rape in Namibia.
The discussion focused on gender dynamics in student relationships, the role identity and family structures play as well as economic variables as possible causes for gender-based violence.
Conscious Citizens is an independent platform that is open to the public for dialogue and collaboration with Namibian youth and organisations.
The founding partners of Conscious Citizens are the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF), the Generation of African Intellectuals Trust (GAIT) and the Free Your Mind Comedy (FYM).
