The Hanns Seidel Foundation awards scholarships to young scientists and postgraduate students with outstanding academic achievements, socio-political dedication and personal qualities. The programme provides assistance to undergo professional and scientific training at universities, universities of applied sciences and other scientific institutions in Germany. As scholarships are offered in Germany, a good conduct of the German language is a prerequisite.
Since the inception of the programme in 1981, assistance has been provided to more than 2,084 scholars from 62 countries. Every year, nearly 100 academics complete the programme for foreign postgraduates.
The stay in Germany and the experiences that it entails are intended to enable foreign scholars to play an active part in positions of responsibility in their home country’s economic, technological, social and political development, and to contribute actively to mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence.
Funding may be granted for a period of five months up to a maximum of two years.
